Our construction site standard: Videoturm PRO AI 5MQ4 MKII
For most projects, we use the PRO AI 5MQ4 MKII surveillance tower — a mobile multi-camera system with AI analytics, alarm technology and 4G/LTE connectivity. It is ready for use quickly, even without existing on-site infrastructure.
- Tower height: approx. 5.3 m
- 5 cameras: 1 PTZ (4 MP, 32× zoom, IR up to 200 m) + 4 fixed cameras (8 MP) with AI analytics (IR 60 m)
- NVR with 1 TB SSD and integrated professional alarm system
- Tower protection sensors for tilt, impact, rotation and opening
- 4G/LTE live video (dual SIM), Wi-Fi and GPS
- LED lighting + warning loudspeaker and perimeter sensors (e.g. around the tower)
- Power: battery + charging via 230 V or generator; optional solar (approx. 1350 W) and wind (approx. 400 W)

The camera tower connects to our video control centre via 4G/LTE. For each project, we define:
Monitoring hours (e.g. outside working hours), Alarm rules
(zones / times) and an Escalation procedure (verification → documentation → response).
- Live view for site managers / security personnel with defined roles and permissions
- Event-based handling, such as AI / zone detection and sensor alerts
- Optional deterrence: lighting / loudspeaker / warnings (project-dependent)
- Documentation and export of relevant sequences according to agreed procedures
Video surveillance is legally possible but subject to clear obligations. We therefore support the technical and organisational implementation of key requirements, particularly in publicly accessible areas and on construction sites with changing visitor traffic.
- Legal basis & purpose: Clearly define the purpose (e.g. theft / vandalism prevention or protection of people and property) and document the balancing of interests.
- Signage: Clearly visible at entrances / hotspots, including the controller, purpose, retention period and information on rights / a privacy information link.
- Storage limitation: Keep recordings only as long as necessary — in practice often no more than 72 hours if no incident occurs.
- Data minimisation: Adjust viewing angles and masking to cover only the necessary area, avoiding continuous recording of public paths where unnecessary.
- No covert surveillance: Transparency is mandatory — covert video surveillance is generally not permitted.
- DPIA: A data protection impact assessment may be required for extensive, systematic monitoring of publicly accessible areas.
- Technical and organisational measures (Article 32 GDPR): Access controls, roles, logging, secure transmission and defined procedures for export and disclosure.
Note: overall legal responsibility for the purpose, legal basis and information obligations rests with the operator / controller. We provide technical implementation, documentation components and practical procedures.
